Public Hearing on Oil and Gas Permitting

The Second Supplemental Recirculated Environmental Impact Report (SSREIR) focuses on Kern County oil and gas permitting and its significant role in local energy security and our elected County Supervisors will consider reimplementing this permitting structure.  

 

The hearing will address the importance of utilizing Kern County’s oil reserves to meet California’s energy needs, reduce reliance on imported oil, protect local jobs, and provide economic growth and opportunities for the region.

Without a steady and reliable energy production system, California could face significant energy shortages and rising costs due to its reliance on imported oil.
